Ready for some golf? We’ll kick off our league season this Thursday, April 12 with an optional pre-season event. It will be a fun chance to meet and play with old and new friends.

 

You’ll be able to choose your tee time and playing partners when you check in at the pro shop. The first tee time is 4:30 and the last should be close to 5:00 depending on the turnout. There will be an optional cash-entry shop game available to make it interesting.

 

Substitutes are encouraged to play, too! Let’s have a good turnout and get the season off to a great start.

It was quite unusual this year to have about 20% of our members qualify for the putting championship being held this Thursday July 28. Nice job! To allow them to compete, and to not penalize other members who may otherwise have to play against par or lose team points, we are making the following change to the league schedule.

1) There will be NO LEAGUE MATCHES PLAYED THIS WEEK. Matches originally scheduled for July 28 will be played on our scheduled makeup date: September 15.

2) A SPECIAL 9 HOLE TOURNAMENT WILL BE HELD THIS THURSDAY. Any 9 hole league member or sub who is not in the putting championship may play. It will be a
5:00 shotgun, and you may sign up to play with any foursome you like when you check in. There is NO ENTRY FEE, and CASH PRIZES will be awarded using special funds provided by the Men’s Club. (You must still pay your green fees as usual.) The pro shop will determine the tournament format.

After the tournament there will be time to root for (or heckle) our putting heroes who will be finishing up in the putting championship.

This should be a fun opportunity to do something a little different. I hope to see you Thursday.

Thanks to the Men's Club, the 9-hole and  18-hole leagues will be receiving an additional $250 this year to be used as we choose. Here are some possibilities:
  • Increase end of season cash payouts by approximately 20%
  • Use for cash winnings in a separate 9-hole league mini-tournament
  • Fund food and/or drinks at an end of season (or preseason) party
  • Provide a free drink ticket or two for every member
  • Provide a keg of beer on a Thursday
  • Use as pro shop credit for each member
  • Use as a new member incentive
Give some thought to how we should use the money, and provide your input on these or any other ideas to Rick Hagberg.
